Shawn Iserhoff is currently the Coordinator of Strategic Planning and Projects for the Cree School Board in Quebec, Canada. He is also an elected Councillor to the Cree Nation of Mistissini. In 2014, Shawn completed a very successful term as Youth Chief of the Cree Nation of Mistissini, where the youth and Youth Council initiated the Fight Against Uranium in Eeyou-Istchee back in 2012. Shawn continues to be an active player in the uranium file, ensuring Cree rights are respected. This accomplishment did not go unnoticed, as in October of 2015, Shawn and 3 youth from Mistissini received International Recognition at the Nuclear-Free Future Foundation Awards on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. In October of 2014, Shawn was honoured to represent the Cree Nation at the International Uranium Film Festival in Germany for the premier of the documentary, “The Wolverine,” portraying the beauty of their land and their opposition to uranium development. He also participated and spoke on behalf of the Cree Nation of Mistissini at the World Uranium Symposium in Quebec City in April of 2015. Shawn has also been featured in CBC’s documentary series, Maamuitaau, and Canadian Olympian Waneek Horn Miller’s series on APTN, entitled, “Working it Out Together – Stewards of the Land,” for his work in opposing uranium development. Furthermore, during his term as Youth Chief, his Youth Council got the approval for the construction of a 4.5 million dollar youth centre facility which recently opened to the public in December of 2015. Shawn is married to his beautify wife, Catherine Quinn, and a father to Daniel and Shawn William. His parents are Matthew and Annie Iserhoff and he has two brothers by the names of Matthew Jr. and Ashley Iserhoff.
