Dennis van Berkel

Dennis van Berkel is the Legal Counsel of the Urgenda Foundation, who’s main gaol is a fast transition towards a sustainable society with a circular economy. Urgenda recently won a landmark lawsuit against the Dutch government, in which the district court of The Hague determined that the Dutch State is taking insufficient measures to prevent dangerous climate change, and ordered it to reduce its emissions by at least 25% before 2020 compared to 1990. Previous to working for Urgenda, Dennis van Berkel worked at Stibbe, specializing in competition law and European regulation, and the Dutch Competition Authority.
