Sarhad Rural Support Programme is a non profit organisations which taps the social energy in people by organising them and through them delivering services, and humanitarian aid. One part of its work is generating electricity in the mountain region where there is plenty of water. At the moment SRSP has helped build over 380 micro and mini hydros reaching 886,000 people generating 28.09 units of electricity. This has been possible through generous assistance of the European Union, government of Pakistan, KFW, UNHCR etc. The largest projects are of 2 megawats. These project are either run as community run projects or as social enterprises. I have been the Chief Executive Officer of SRSP for a decade and a half
