Kristin Kaschner is a marine biologist, member of the IUCN Cetacean Specialist Group & Marine Mammal Task Force on Protected Areas. She is also a member of the Global Ocean Biodiversity Initiative and has worked for UN FAO, UNEP and WCMC providing advice about global marine conservation issues. As the expert for marine mammals, she has contributed to both, the 2005 Millenium Ecosystem Assessment and the on-going UN Ocean Assessment. Recently she has also started teaching at the United World Robert-Bosch College here in Freiburg where, together with her student, she hopes to initiate a variety of grass root sustainability projects around the world.
