Mohammad Zahirul Islam holds a Master Degree in Zoology, and have Marine Conservation course from the Duke University Marine Lab (USA). Has extensive experience in sea turtle monitoring, conservation and migration research through satellite tracking. I worked for NGOs and Government projects under Ministry of Environment & Forests where I initiated Marine wildlife conservation and monitoring activity. I founded Marinelife Alliance to conduct indepth research and establish sustained conservation of marine life. We are conducting research and conservation on sea turtle along the entire Bangladesh coast, with local community and Bangladesh Forest Department with support from Whitley Fund for Nature, US Fish & Wildlife Service and The World Bank. I have released over 4 hundred thousand sea turtle babies in the Bay of Bengal during the last 18 years of conservation program. Having program on marine charismatic mega fauna research and conservation we work on whale shark, cetaceans, sea Birds, and coral reefs. During the past and current intention is to establish marine research and monitoring stations and laboratory for researchers and conservationist to manage conservation measures and finding innovative solutions to tackle future and prevailing threats to save save our fragile habitat and species.
