Maggie Muurmans works in the field of sea turtle conservation and other environmental areas. Her work was awarded by the Future for Nature award in 2009 (given to her by David Attenborough) and the Woman of the Earth award in 2011. Muurmans´s teaching experience extends to developing environmental education programmes in developing countries as well as teaching primary, secondary and tertiary students in the UK, Malaysia and Australia. She currently holds an adjunct lecturer position at the University of Queensland and coordinates the coastal education program for the Griffith Centre for Coastal Management.
