A recognized leader in Mexico’s civil conservation movement, Martha Isabel (Pati) Ruiz Corzo is known as one of the driving forces behind the creation of the Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve where she served as Federal Director for 14 years, in 2008 she returned to the local civil movement. Pioneer in local solutions to climate change and poverty eradication, she has received numerous awards for her innovative work.
