René NGONGO is President of the Environment and Natural Resources Commission of the Economic and Social Council of the Democratic Republic of Congo. He is co-founder and President of the Congolese Organization of Ecologists and Friends of Nature. A defender of the DRC and Congo Basin forests, he is campaigning against the plundering of natural resources in the DRC. Former Greenpeace representative and head of EITI department in the DRC, he won the Right Livelihood Award in 2009.
