Alexandra Lavrillier is Associate professor at the European Center for the Arctic – OVSQ / University of Versailles (France). Her research interests cover comparative studies of nomadism, hunting, reindeer herding, landscape management, representations of the natural environment, lifestyles and adaptations brought on by postsocialism, the market economy and climate change, as well as shamanism among Siberian Evenki, Eveny and Yakuty. She has published extensively on ritual, the use of space and landscape, orienteering and linguistics. In addition, from the late 1990's she is involved in a project of cooperative anthropology with indigenous poeple. It is a project of Evenki reindeer herders themselves aiming to carry out a nomadic school.
