Chairman of Development Alternatives, a social enterprise based in India, which designs and markets affordable technologies for the creation of jobs, basic needs products and a better environment. After postgraduate degrees in physics from Cambridge and Harvard Universities, Ashok Khosla became founder Director of the Indian Government’s first Environment Office and then a Director in UNEP. He is Co-Chair of the UN’s International Resource Panel and was, until recently, President of IUCN and the Club of Rome. He has been a member of India’s National Advisory Boards on Security and Science. He was awarded the OBE by the UK Government, the Sasakawa Environment Prize by the UN, the Duke of Edinburgh Medal by WWF and the Outstanding Social Entrepreneur Award by the Schwab Foundation.
