Rolf Disch

Rolf Disch founded his own architectural company, Rolf Disch Solar Architecture , in Freiburg in 1969. Disch was responsible for designing and developing the unique rotating solar house in Freiburg, called the Heliotrope: An experimental but fully functional residence, it utilizes the resources offered by nature with no needless waste . It was the first "plusenergy" house ever, that generates more energy than it consumes. As part of the eco-friendly "Vauban" residential district, he designed the "Solar Settlement" and the "Sun Ship" building, the first housing estate and the first commercial and office building in plusenergy standard.
