UN SEED Award

Susanne von der Heide is a cultural scientist and conservation specialist. She was curator for education at the Museum of East Asian Art at Cologne from 1988-1995. Thenafter, until 2001, she was working for UNESCO, World Heritage Center in Paris and the Division of Cultural Heritage. Since 2001 she is the Director and since 2008 the Chairperson of the HimalAsia Foundation, which is operating mainly in the Himalayan Areas. She is a Professor for Cultural Management and Heritage Studies at the Hyderabad University and at the Kathmandu University in Nepal. She is one of the editors of the book-serie of UNESCO ‘World Cultural and Natural Heritage Sites and, moreover, made 5 films regarding the Himalayan region. In 2005 she received in New York the UN Seed Award for her Seabuckthorn program to safeguard the Biodiversity of the Himalayan Area. In 2017 she received the Trophée de Femmes award from the Yves-Rocher Fondation.
