Our association „Ökostadt Basel“ (ecological city for Basel CH) works since 30 years in projects for more nature in the town, ecological politics and handling, ecological develloppement. We are all volonteers, but well related with other associations for environment as WWF local, pro natura, Bird Life ... Because our local government has got a rather high ecological level ( also with our ideas), we decided to look for projects with nature, that we can devellop in the city and perform ourselves with participation of house owners and habitants. We are looking for progressive planning in steps, low costs and clever performing. My projects since 1995: 8 ecologic markets with local producers, local bio farmers and changing subjects as solarpannels, repair or water. "100 apple trees for Basel" – to show how apples grow. 57 climbing roses on facades of 6 streets – to bring hope, beauty, flowers and fragrance in difficult sectors of the city . „Baumpatenschaften“ - create and look for islands of flowers around a tree on the pavement of streets --- with wild flowers that grow for years instead of pushed plants that are dead in 4 months . „Open and develop your backyards“ --- open the pavement and ciment of backyards to create more nature and lovely places to sit behind the houses - but also to look for more open ground to absorb rain and give more refreshing in the summer for a better micro clima. So we created more than 50 new places with wildflowers, bushes, little trees -- and ground for vegetables and berries!
