Asahi Glass Foundation

The Asahi Glass Foundation was established in 1933. For about half a century, the Foundation had focused on research grant programs. The Foundation in 1990 restructured its activities by introducing a commendation program identifying profound research and activity for the world environmental conservation. The program sponsors the annual Blue Planet Prize, an international award inaugurated in 1992 to commend individuals and organizations in recognition of efforts to solve issues of environmental concern to all life forms of the Earth. The commendation program is primarily designed to raise awareness of dire environment issues and crisis that human facing. The Foundation sincerely hopes to further the environmental studies but also to promote practices that will serve the world community preserving environments into the future.
