Paul Walker, United States, is the International Director of the Environmental Security and Sustainability (ESS) Program for Green Cross International (GCI). The ESS Program is an international effort to facilitate the safe demilitarization, nonproliferation, and remediation of weapons stockpiles and high toxic waste. Walker received the Right Livelihood Award (RLA) in December 2013 “for working tirelessly to rid the world of chemical weapons.” He is a former Professional Staff Member of the Armed Services Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives and holds a Ph.D. in international security studies from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an MA in international studies from Johns Hopkins SAIS. He has managed GCI's Washington DC office since 1996. He is also a Vietnam-era US Army veteran.
